The St. Joseph’s Hawks defeated the Lafayette Leopards 65-57 on Wednesday night in the Kirby Sports Center, despite a breakout performance from guard Brya Freeland ‘15.
Freeland had a career-high 21 points, hitting four of six attempts from outside the arc. Center Danielle Fiacco ‘15 scored 16 points, but went 6 for 21 from the field. She continues to be a defensive force, adding five blocks and 11 rebounds.
The Leopards started three freshmen – Freeland, guard MaddiePeabody ‘15 and forward Emily Homan ‘15. Peabody scored eight points and handed out two assists. Homan had nine points and collected five boards.
St. Joseph’s, who defeated the 2010 Patriot League Championship finalist Lehigh Mountain Hawks 66-48 earlier in the season, moves its record to 5-3 with the victory.
Lafayette travels to Smithfield, RI to take on the Bryant Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
