Volleyball (4-22)

Nov. 11. vs Colgate

L 3-0

The Leopards fell in three straight sets in a Patriot League match against Colgate University (25-16, 24-16, 25-12). Juniors Tori Smith and Lizzi Walsh led the team with six kills a piece while senior Jet Manzi added five kills. Smith also led the team with 13 assists.

 

Nov. 12 vs Navy

L 3-1

Lafayette ended their season with a four set match against the Navy Midshipmen (25-22, 9-25, 9-25, 26-28). Walsh had a team high 11 kills and Manzi finished off her career with 10 kills in the match.

 

Men’s Basketball (1-1)

Nov. 11 vs Villanova

L 88-48

The Leopards began their season with a matchup against the reigning National Champions at The Pavilion, falling to the No. 4 Wildcats by a score of 88-48. Junior Matt Klinewski totaled 12 points while senior Nick Lindner added another 10 points in the contest.

 

Nov. 14. vs St. Peter’s

W 61-57

After trailing by eleven points with under five minutes to play, Lafayette pieced together a comeback to secure their first victory of the season. Klinewski led the Leopards with 26 points, tying his career high. Junior Eric Stafford hit a three pointer with just twenty seconds remaining to put Lafayette ahead.

 

Women’s Basketball (1-1)

Nov. 11 vs La Salle

W 56-49

The Leopards defeated Lasalle 56-49 to begin their 2016-2017 campaign. Senior Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby led Lafayette with 13 points, while freshman Olivia Gumbs totaled ten points and nine rebounds in her college debut.

 

Nov. 14 vs Rider

L 76-58

In their second contest of the season, Lafayette fell to Rider 76-58. Junior Anna Ptasinski led the team with 12 points while junior Sammy Stipa added another 11. Gumbs totaled eight points and eight rebounds in the outing.

 

Cross Country

Nov. 11 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Meet

The Lafayette Cross Country team finished up their season at the Women’s NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Meet with a 24th place finish. Emily Moore ran the best time with a 22:26, finishing in the top 100 out of 198 runners. Junior Katherine Millar finished second for the Leopards with a time of 23:26.
