Student Government reviewed additional budgets and voted to purchase chairs during its April 10 meeting.
Out of $2,000 in requested club purchases for the spring budget and $101.12 requested for the semester’s food budget, Student Government granted $900 and $77, respectively. For unanticipated club and organization requests, the members granted the full $754. Budget approvals were conducted in an executive session.
Members then participated in a financial guidelines proofread, in which they read through a rough draft of the updated guidelines and left comments. The financial guidelines, which outline how funds are distributed by Student Government, are in the process of being rewritten.
The members voted to buy new Adirondack chairs for the Quad. After deliberating between buying 30 chairs or 25 chairs, for over $300 a piece, the members voted to buy 25. According to the discussion, the chosen chairs are made of a composite material more durable than normal wood, which will help protect against breakage.
President Alex Brown ’26 has since clarified to The Lafayette that the number of chairs purchased by Student Government will likely be lower after the administration offered to pay for some of the chairs.
