Pard Glow

Pard+Glow

Tonight, PardGlow will reclaim a stage even bigger, brighter, and bolder than its debut last year.

Hosted by the Lafayette Activities Forum (LAF) and Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, this night of loud music and fluorescent, glow-in-the-dark paint will begin at 10 p.m. on March Field and last until 1 in the morning. The idea of PardGlow originated from the “Life in Color” concert, previously known as “Dayglow,” which began as a large paint party on a college campus in Florida.

After an increase in popularity, Dayglow traveled to Ultra Music Festival in Miami and then the Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania a few miles away in 2011. It was met with such high demand that the concert was moved to Lehigh University’s Rauch Field house.

Following the paint party at Lehigh, six guests were arrested for intoxication and disorderly conduct while 35 attendees were sent to local hospitals with cases of dehydration as well as drug and alcohol poisoning. Due to the occurrence at Lehigh University, the concert was re-branded as “Life in Color.” Event organizer Sebastian Solano asserted that the new title captured the spirit of the event more than its previous name.

Lafayette College’s very own paint party, PardGlow, is nevertheless returning for its second year with a promise to attract a larger audience, specifically more upperclassmen than it had in the past.

According to Amanda Schwartz ‘16, LAF’s Director of Special Events and Recreation and one of the organizers of the event, PardGlow was “definitely successful last year, but I expect it to be even more so this year, based on the buzz around campus.”

The paint is very difficult to wash out, therefore attendees may want to wear clothing they are not worried about ruining. Patrons may want to keep valuables like cell phones and wallets in a Zip-Loc bag for safekeeping.

HeartBreaker Entertainment will be providing the music for PardGlow, as they did last year. So gear up and get pumped up for a colorful night filled with spectacle and great entertainment.

UPDATE: PardGlow has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for the fall semester.
