The Women’s Volleyball team has served up a strong start this season. In their home opener, they bested Rider University (3-1) on Sunday. Camissa Beghou ’15 had ten kills and Danielle Towslee ’15 contributed nine. Leading the team in assists was Sarah Frohnapfel ’13 with 25. On defense, Michelle Woodworth ’15 posted a team-leading 14 digs and Kate Rooney ’15 led the team in blocks with 6.
They followed up with a thrilling away victory by coming from two sets down to outlast St. Francis (N.Y.) 3-2. Key players included Beghou who had 14 kills and Karissa Ciliento ’14 who had 13 kills. Towslee also contributed 11 kills.Frohnapfel led the team with 34 assists and Woodworth led the team in digs with 22.
With these two victories in the bag, the Leopards are set up to improve upon their record from last season of 10-17 and 3-11 in Patriot League play. Captains Frohnapfel and Katie Zoller ’13 will lead a team featuring five freshmen.
The Leopards are looking to keep their winning streak alive this weekend during the Lafayette College Volleyball Tournament. They play Delaware State on Friday at 6 p.m. and on Saturday they face St. Peter’s at 10 a.m. and FarleighDickinson at 5 p.m.
