Cross Country

October 18 – Leopard Invitational from Easton, PA

M, 3 of 6; W, 2 of 6

Junior Stephanie Benko claimed second overall for the women with a time of 23:04. For the men, senior Andrew Warshauer claimed fifth overall and was the first to cross the finish line for the Leopards with a time of 27:07.

Football (3-4, 1-1)

October 11 – vs. Georgetown

W, 24-21

Lafayette picked up their first Patriot League victory against the Hoyas, led by Ross Scheuerman’s three rushing touchdowns. Scheuerman added 79 yards on the ground and 31 yards receiving on the day. The defense had two takeaways on the day with interceptions by freshman Philip Parham and senior Jared Roberts. The defense added four sacks on the day.

October 18- at No. 24 Harvard

L, 24-14

Junior Ross Scheuerman lead the Leopards in both rushing and receiving on the day with 78 yards on the ground and 125 yards through the air, to go along with a receiving touchdown. Sophomore quarterback Blake Searfoss remained the starter over the injured Drew Reed and completed 23 of 42 passes for 274 yards and a touchdown.

Golf

October 14 – The Presidents Cup vs. Lehigh from Hamilton Farm Golf Club

W, 8.5-7.5

In a Ryder Cup format, the Leopards downed the Mountain Hawks by a score of 8.5-7.5. Sophomore Jared Mactas and junior Patrick Luther won the final two singles matches two singles matches to seal the victory for the Leopards. The day consisted of a nine-hole better ball match, followed by a nine-hole alternate shot format, and an 18-hole singles match in the afternoon on a par three course.

October 17-19 – Lehigh Invitational from Saucon Valley Country Club

Senior Mike Zausmer led the Leopards, finishing in a tie for fifth place overall after firing scores of 72 and 79. Senior Bob Dyer also earned a top ten finish, tying for eighth place, shooting scores of 76 and 78.

Men’s Soccer (5-7-2, 1-4)

October 8 – vs. Lehigh

W, 2-0

Lafayette earned their first Patriot League victory against their rivals, Lehigh. The Leopards blanked the Mountain Hawks, behind goals from senior Ryan Dodds in the sixth minute and junior Eric West in the 55th minute. Senior goalie Sandy Leavy made seven stops on the day in goal.

October 11 – vs. Holy Cross

L, 3-2 2OT

The Leopards butted heads with the Crusaders for 102 minutes, exchanging goals back and forth. Senior Alec Golini scored the first goal for the team in the 62nd minute. Junior Eric West followed Golini’s lead in the 88th minute, scoring a goal off a pass from sophomore Ben Marks. However, senior goalie Sandy Leavy allowed his third goal on the day in the 102nd minute, sealing the win for Holy Cross.

October 14 – vs. Buffalo

W, 1-0

Junior Eric West scored the lone goal on the day in the 90th minute on a pass from Alec Golini. Freshman goalkeeper Brad Seeber made his first career start in goal and stopped eight shots.

October 18 – at No. 22 Boston University

L, 3-1

Junior Eric West scored the loan goal on the day on an assist from sophomore Ryan Egan. Senior goalie Sandy Leavy played 57 minutes and allowed two goals before being benched for freshman goalie Brad Seeber. Seeber made two saves in 34 minutes, but allowed one goal.

Field Hockey (5-9, 1-4)

October 11 – vs. American

L, 1-0

Freshman goalie Katelyn Arnold made her fifth start of the year in goal. Despite making two saves on the day, Arnold only needed to allow one goal on the day to let the Eagles claim the victory.

October 18 – at Bucknell

L, 2-1

The Leopards got off to a fast start, after senior Kelsey Mead scored the lone goal on the day in the eighth minute from an assist by freshman Rosie Shanks. However, the Leopards offense seemed to go cold for the remainder of the game, for the Leopards only had two other shots on goal. Freshman goalie Katelyn Arnold made four saves on the day.

Women’s Soccer (5-8-0, 2-4-0)

October 11 – at Boston University

L, 6-1

Sophomore Kaelin King scored the lone goal for the Leopards on the day in the 86th minute. Sophomore Danielle Sedillo allowed six goals on the day in 72 minutes. Sedillo made two saves as well.

October 18 – vs. American

W, 2-1

The Leopards scored goals in both the 46th and 48th minutes. Sophomore Liz Scoda scored in the 46th minute on an assist from sophomore Kaelin King. Sophomore Joanna Scotti followed two minutes later scoring an unassisted goal in the 48th minute.

Volleyball (4-17, 1-8)

October 10 – vs. Holy Cross

L, 3-2

Lafayette lost to Holy Cross in five sets, after winning the first two by scores of 25-13 and 25-16. Senior Danielle Towslee led the way with 16 kills and Junior Lauren Pisauro led the team in digs with 22.

October 11 – vs. Army

L, 3-2

For the second straight game, the Leopards took their opponents to five sets. Lafayette won the first and fourth sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-23. Sophomore Jet Manzi and junior Lauren Pisauro led the way for the Leopards in digs with 15 apiece. Manzi also led the way in kills with 11.

October 17 – at Lehigh

L, 3-0

Lafayette lost in straight sets to their rivals, Lehigh. Freshman Elizabeth Walsh led the way for the team in kills with eight. Lauren Pisauro led the team in digs with 11.

October 19 – at Colgate

Lafayette lost in straight sets for the second game in a row. Also, for the second game in a row, freshman Elizabeth Walsh led the way in kills and junior Lauren Pisauro led the way in digs, both with nine and 14 respectively.
