Student Government focused on infrastructure projects, fall programming and the upcoming first-year election cycle at its Sept. 25 meeting.
After opening remarks, Student Government President Alex Brown ‘26 handed the floor to representative William Bennett ‘28, who proposed an initiative to tap into Student Government’s reserve funds to support renovations to student spaces and outside recreation areas.
Projects under discussion include portable pickleball nets, outdoor fire pits, new volleyball courts and a redesigned Marlo Room featuring a stage and improved sound system. During the Q&A, one member praised the plan, saying that the upgrades would provide a better space for on-campus formals.
Concerns were also raised about fire pit safety and past restrictions on outdoor use. Bennett responded that the proposal would have oversight from the college.
Following the presentation, Brown previewed plans for this year’s Fall Fest and reviewed the election timeline for first-year students.
The meeting closed after Inclusivity Officer Luna Garces ’27 announced an upcoming fun run for clubs and student organizations.
