The McKelvy Dinner Discussion on Sunday, September 29, was based around the topic “Methods of Communication and How They’re Evolving.” The discussion started with the difference between cell phones now and ten years ago and quickly evolved to social media networks and the ease of maintaining anonymity on such networks. A large portion of the time was spent discussing the differences between friends in real life, Facebook friends, and friends on less personal sites like Twitter and Instagram. The discussion overall was a great balance between a reminder of what can be waiting for us on the internet and amusement as everyone shared anecdotes of their experiences, positive and negative, with the internet.
