Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior journalism experience to write for you?

Nope! Learn how to get involved here.

Why do some events or issues go uncovered?

The Lafayette typically covers stories that have at least two of the following three characteristics: importance, timeliness and novelty. As with any publication, there may be some unavoidable biases in how the staff of The Lafayette perceives and interacts with campus and the Easton community, in addition to insufficient staffing or reporting difficulties.

We cannot cover things we don’t hear about. If you think you have a story idea, send it our way.

How can I ask The Lafayette to write a story?

We welcome any and all tips and ideas from the community through our tip line or our P.O. box. You can also tell a writer or editor for The Lafayette your idea.

Why wasn’t a specific source included in a story?

We strive to present all sides of every story, but including every perspective depends on source participation and the availability of information — standard journalistic practice dictates that we may not simply make assumptions. If we cannot provide all the relevant perspectives in an article, we will explain why. For example, “[Source name] could not be reached for comment,” or “[Source name] declined to comment.”

If you have questions or concerns about the way a story was presented, please email [email protected].

How do I correct an error in an article?

While The Lafayette strives for accuracy, mistakes happen. Corrections to articles, regardless of time elapsed since publication, can be submitted via email to [email protected] with the subject line, “Attn: Corrections.”

Can I republish your content?

Articles, photos, videos, graphics, illustrations and all other written or visual content created by The Lafayette are the copyright of The Lafayette. Please ask us if you would like to republish our work.
