Student Government’s April 23 meeting saw a presentation from Treasurer Gracie Vale ‘27 on the student activities fee. Members of Student Government reexamine the fee and vote on whether to change it every year.
Vale recommended that the fee remain the same, citing Student Government’s “comfortable” financial position.
Elizabeth Miller ‘26, the president of Lafayette Activities Forum, spoke during the presentation advocating for an increased fee, saying that LAF needed the additional funding. She cited more students, higher demand for programming and economic inflation as reasons for the group’s need.
The majority of the meeting consisted of two resolution presentations proposals: one by Inclusivity Officer Evalina Ibrahaim ‘29, the other by Sen. Josh George ‘29.
Budget allocations were deliberated and approved in secret, something the organization deems a fairness measure. While $898.40 was requested, $203.97 was allocated.
Sen. Kate SantaMaria ‘27 had an excused absence, while Sens. Trefor Thomas ‘29 and Matthew Epp ‘27 had unexcused absences.
