A 14-year-old has been charged in an Easton shooting that took place near Paxinosa Elementary School on Monday evening, according to a county district attorney news release.
The shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. near North 11th and Church Streets, next to the elementary school and a public playground, said Stephen Baratta ‘78, the Northampton County district attorney, in the release.
The event left one 17-year-old male injured from a gunshot wound, though city police said he is expected to survive after hospitalization.
The shooter will be charged as a juvenile. As of Thursday, it is unclear whether police are still searching for other suspects. Initially, the search included three male suspects wearing black masks and clothing who fled from the scene, according to WFMZ. No further information about the suspects has been released, and Easton Police Lieutenant Matthew Gerould could not be immediately reached for comment.
