The golf team returned to the links for its second tournament of the season, competing in two rounds at the par-70, 6,818-yard Rolling Green Golf Club on Monday. The Leopards finished in a three‑way tie for eighth out of 12 teams.
Junior Winston Kelenc-Blank led the Leopards in the team standings, carding rounds of 73 and 76 for a nine-over-par and t-10 finish.
“I had the expectation that it was gonna be tough out there and that pars are gonna be good scores,” Kelenc-Blank said.
Sophomore Reed Theiss followed behind, backing up his ninth-place finish the previous week with a t-23 finish, shooting 151. Classmate Travis Robertson shot 77 and 74 across the two rounds to place t-44. Senior Harry Dessel secured t-50 with a 157 card, while freshman Liam Brandt rounded out the squad with an 18-over-par performance to finish t-53.
Kelenc-Blank said the team’s focus was “hitting as many greens as possible.”
“We knew putting was gonna be very tough there, so trying to get up and down constantly was not going to be much of an option,” he said.
Freshman Viktor Kofod-Olsen and sophomore Michael DiNapoli also competed as individuals. Kofod-Olsen carded a 149 to tie with Kelenc-Blank for 10th place, and DiNapoli recorded an 80 in his sole round for a t-15 finish.
“My mindset was play as best as I can,” Kofod-Olsen said. “Go out there, shoot as low as I can and not play too aggressive and make too many mistakes.”
Kofod-Olsen echoed Kelenc-Blank’s statement, noting the greens were not in ideal shape.
“At the end of the day, it’s the same for everyone in the field,” he said.
The Leopards will travel to West Chester University to compete against a field of 12 teams on Monday and Tuesday.
“There’s definitely a motivation in the team, since we know we can perform better than we have in the last two events,” Kofod‑Olsen said.
