The track team split squads last weekend, with athletes competing at Rutgers University and Bucknell University on Saturday. Sophomore Kendall Collier delivered a historic performance at the Bison Outdoor Classic, breaking a 38-year-old school record in the 10K by three seconds.
Collier’s time of 35:12.08 erased Renee Robins’ previous mark, earning her eighth place in a deep field.
Junior Bridget Shaver placed fifth in the 5,000-meter (17:49.53). Freshmen Hazel Calway and Maeve McNamee finished 18th (11:17.75) and 20th (11:18.84) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, respectively. Calway moves into seventh, and McNamee into ninth on the all-time list for the women’s steeplechase.
The men added three more top‑10 all‑time marks at Bucknell. Competing in the men’s 1,500-meter, senior Quinn Worrell crossed the line in 30th (3:50.02). The race marked him fourth all-time in Lafayette history and less than a second off the school record of 3:49.31.
Senior Justin Brown followed with a fifth all‑time performance in the 5,000-meter (14:40.74), placing 37th, while senior Cole Chukoskie joined him on the list, running 14:44.23 for eighth in program history and a 50th‑place finish.
At the Rutgers Relays, senior Bobby McClosky placed first in the javelin (217’ 2”), a mark that now leads the Patriot League, sits 46th in Division I and places him third in program history, only half a meter off the school record.
“Billy Pobola, who holds the record right now, helped me my freshman year and told me that I had to beat it, so I want to before the year is over,” McClosky said.
McClosky’s win also earned him the honor of Patriot League Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
“The coaches are good at making sure we’re really prepared for the meet and that we know what we need to do,” McClosky said. “Some days you’re not really gunning for anything, but then something good comes out of it.”
In the pole vault, senior Ben Hill placed third (15’ 7.75”) and junior Elliott Godin followed in fourth (15’ 1.75”). Sophomore Javin Petry added a third-place finish in the hammer throw (181’ 1”).
On the track, the Leopards claimed three first‑place finishes, two of them coming in individual events. Junior John Liedtka won the 110‑meter hurdles (14.45), and sophomore Cole Scattergood took the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:58.16).
Senior Roman Conca, juniors Harrison Rosen and Alex Caba and sophomore Kaseme Leckie won the 4×100-meter relay (41.16), a performance that also moves them to sixth on Lafayette’s all‑time list.
Senior J.P. Pfisterer was fourth in the 400-meter (48.44), snagging sixth all-time for the Leopards. Caba finished seventh in the 200-meter (21.54), ranking him eighth in team history.
On the women’s side, several sophomores delivered three top-ten finishes. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, sophomores Alivia Bear and Eleni Smith finished fourth (11:57.14) and fifth (12:01.20), respectively. Sophomore Kristin DeBolt added a fifth-place finish in the discus (129‘ 11”).
The Leopards will send out two separate squads once again this weekend, travelling to the Naval Academy and the University of Virginia.
“Everyone’s been getting personal bests and the team’s on a good trajectory right now to do well, so it’s exciting,” McClosky said.
