Student Government discussed the possibility of double minors and a new club delegate system at its Feb. 26 meeting.
Geology professor Lawrence Malinconico presented on the current exploration of double minors by the Faculty Educational Policy Committee. He described the committee as being in the “information gathering stage,” and discussing logistics.
Parliamentarian Amy Atuhaire ‘29 presented an overview of how general body representatives (soon to be called “senators”) will be elected under Student Government’s recently-overhauled constitution, which received final Board of Trustees approval on Saturday. A major change in the document, which is expected to take effect Thursday evening, will see senators elected by their class year rather than selected by the organization’s officers.
Inclusivity Officer Evalina Ibrahim ‘29 reported that the equity and inclusion committee would be launching a version of Student Government’s club delegate system to better connect with identity-based groups on campus. The delegate system, which was first piloted in the fall semester, pairs club delegates with Student Government members for a direct line of communication.
Budget allocations were deliberated and approved in secret, something the organization deems a fairness measure. Of the $60 requested, $0 was allocated.
Rep. Josh George ‘29 had an excused absence.
