Cardi B causes chaos in Easton by Selma O’Malley ‘26
When I agreed to accompany Selma to the Cardi B meet-and-greet at the Palmer Park Mall, I had no idea what to expect. Part of me wondered if it was some elaborate, large-scale kidnapping scheme, because why on earth would there ever be a Cardi B meet-and-greet at the Palmer Park Mall? Instead, it was a bizarre and beautiful six-hour wait that really felt very human.
Selma captures this event so vividly — her attention to detail and sense of humor shine throughout, and it’s clear she understood that the real story was the human experience of the wait, not the celebrity at the center of it.

A feast to climb for by Elisabeth Seidel ‘26
I convinced Elisabeth — though it didn’t take much convincing — to join me for the Lafayette Outdoor Society’s annual Thanksgiving feast on the top of a mountain. I knew it was the type of event she would be able to perfectly translate and weave all its whimsy and community into a 500-word story. I was right. It won first place for feature stories in a state-wide college newspaper competition.

Dog with a job by Ben Saalman ‘28
Though the headline reminds me of a lackluster Disney Channel sitcom, the article itself is filled with so much life. All the colorful quotes and details Ben included make the cake, and the closing line is another cherry on top to add to his collection of witty punchlines. I feel like I know Eli. I’d like to think we’d get along.

‘What about the woman behind the man?’ by Elisabeth Seidel ‘26
It’s an article I keep going back to. The research and dedication this article took are evident, and it is an extremely engaging read! Also, the photos are mesmerizing.

Switching fields: Goalie trades locker room for limelight by Harrison Meyer ‘29
It’s a really interesting article with excellent writing. Harrison’s growth in the paper this year was incredible, and I think this story exemplifies his ability as a reporter and writer. He’s always going above and beyond, and the story itself represents what makes the Lafayette community so special.

I wouldn’t have survived.

Data centers land in Lehigh Valley by Selma O’Malley ‘26
With just how much artificial intelligence seems to be taking over literally everything, it’s becoming increasingly important to understand the nuances of the data centers that power it, the data they process and the real-world consequences of their scale and energy demands. This article is very well-researched and touches impeccably upon both the economic and environmental effects of data centers as they threaten to populate Lehigh Valley.

1-million-square-foot Easton-area warehouse unanimously denied by Andreas Pelekis ‘26 and Clara Witmer ‘27
WE BROKE IT, BABY! Although maybe we were a little overzealous because we beat every other newspaper by a good number of hours. A special shout-out to Andreas and Clara for rapidly typing on their laptops in the middle of city hall while I lurked over their shoulders with a video camera and a broken mic for a class project.

Travis Scott’s ‘Rodeo’ rides on 10 years later by Dan Sullivan ‘27
Everybody knows I’m a little less Travis Scott and a lot more Taylor Swift — that is, until I start reading this gem again. That “yes, yes, yes and yes” ending? Gets me every time.

Notes from Garlic Fest by Elisabeth Seidel ‘26
Basic pick…but it’s pretty good for a first time writer.

Jen Tries: Swimming a mile by Jen Parsons ‘26
I love the full Jen Tries series, but as a swimmer this one is my favorite. Thanks for acknowledging that it’s actually hard. Love you Jen.

Former Leopard charges defensive anchors to Super Bowl triumph by Andreas Pelekis, ’26
I’m the New Person in the Newsroom, so I feel disadvantaged picking among the numerous well-written articles. However, Andreas’ Sports story about Chris Partridge ’02 and his role as outside linebackers coach on the Super Bowl-winning Seattle Seahawks caught my attention not just for the writing. It exemplifies how The Lafayette can provide the exclusive content many other Lehigh Valley media miss. It’s also why the school community and Easton residents should consume, even critique (civilly, please) the stories and overall exemplary work by these volunteer student-journalists.
