Men’s Cross Country
Sept 8 at Lehigh Dual Meet
L, 16-47
Lehigh got the best of the Leopards when the two teams met for their annual dual meet. The Mountain Hawks had nine of the top 10 runners in the Men’s 8K, with senior Kelvin Serem placing 5th with a time of 26:19.5.

Sept 9 vs Sacred Heart
L, 38-24
The offense was rolling for Sacred Heart who put up 506 total offensive yards to the Leopards’ 276. Lafayette jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, but Sacred Heart kept the Leopards scoreless through the next two and piled on 31 unanswered points by the 10:44 mark of the fourth quarter. Freshman QB Sean O’Malley had 236 yards passing and went 25-44.

Men’s Soccer (0-5-0) (0-0-0)
Sept 8 vs Fordham
L, 4-0
Fordham had all the answers in shutting out the Leopards last Friday night. The Rams put up two goals each half to keep the Leopards’ first win of the season out of reach. Senior goalkeeper Brian Ehrlich had three saves in the loss.
Sept 10 at Cornell
L, 3-1
The first win of the season remained elusive for the men’s soccer team. A 3-0 Cornell lead at the end of the first half proved too large a deficit for the Leopards to overcome. Sophomore Evan Vare recorded the team’s only goal.
Women’s Cross Country
Sept 8 at Lehigh Dual Meet
L, 15-50
The Lehigh women’s team fared just as well as the men’s by taking the top seven spots in the women’s race. Lafayette had the next eight spots to round out the top 15, with junior Caroline Harmon clocking in at 22:57.16 as the top finisher for the Leopards.
Field Hockey (4-1) (0-0)
Sept 8 at Fairfield
W, 4-0
Field Hockey’s freshman and senior classes put on a show in the team’s decisive win over Fairfield. Seniors Ellen Colbourne and Kaitlynn Ewing started the scoring for the Leopards with freshmen Grace Angelella and Sophie Carr notching their first goals of the season.

Sept 10 vs Drexel
W, 4-1
Angelella didn’t wait long to add to her career goal totals, providing two goals for the team in their win over Drexel. Colbourne and sophomore Caroline Turnbull provided a goal apiece as well. Sophomore Sarah Park made two saves in the win.
Women’s Soccer (2-3-1) (0-0-0)
Sept 7 vs Binghamton
T, 1-1 (2OT)
Two overtimes weren’t enough to resolve a 1-1 tie for the women’s soccer team. Freshman Sophie Saldivar netted her first collegiate goal in the 61st minute, but the Bearcats answered 10 minutes later with a goal of their own. Senior Kelly O’Brien was solid in goal, making five saves in 65 minutes of split-game action.
Sept 10 at Brown
L, 2-1
Lafayette finally got on the board in the 77th minute, but the late-game push wasn’t enough to overcome a two-goal deficit. Freshman Maggie Pohl and O’Brien gave up a goal each and made three and four saves, respectively. Sophomore Alexa Buffa tallied the Leopards’ lone goal.
Volleyball (1-9) (0-0)
Sept 8 vs Cal State Fullerton (Towson University Tournament)
L, 3-0
After Cal State Fullerton ran away with the first two sets, Lafayette stayed tough in the third set eventually losing 25-23. The Titans swept the match 25-11, 25-16, 25-23.
Sept 8 vs Quinnipiac (Towson University Tournament)
L, 3-0
The Leopards stayed within striking distance but couldn’t muster a win in their second match of the day at the Towson. Quinnipiac swept the match 25-19, 25-16, 25-18. Sophomore Julia Howard had 17 assists in the loss.
Sept 9 vs George Mason (Towson University Tournament)
L, 3-0
Lafayette once again lost in straight sets, dropping the match 25-17, 25-20, 25-20. Lafayette was able to cut into major deficits but never quite took control against the Patriots. Senior Tori Smith had 12 digs in the loss.
Sept 9 vs Eastern Michigan (Towson University Tournament)
L, 3-1
Lafayette won their first set of the weekend, but ultimately couldn’t take down the Eagles. Howard had 23 assists and Smith contributed nine kills, but Eastern Michigan won the match 25-13, 18-25, 25-13, 25-31.
Sept 10 at Towson (Towson University Tournament)
L, 3-0
The home team got the best of the Leopards, winning in straight sets 25-13, 25-17, 25-17. Freshman Lexie Caraveo had 19 of the teams 52 digs, while Howard had 18 of the team’s 22 assists.
