Lafayette leads Lehigh 21-14 after the first half of play here at Goodman Stadium in Bethlehem, Pa. The Mountain Hawks will receive to start the second half.

The Leopards offense was extremely efficient from the get-go, registering two straight touchdowns, although both came off interesting plays. A bad snap led to a fumble that bounced around near the goal line, but running back Ross Scheuerman ’15 recovered it and ran it into the end zone.

On fourth and 26 from the 31 yard line after another bad snap, head coach Frank Tavani opted to go for it and it paid off when freshman quarterback Drew Reed found wide receiver Mark Ross for the touchdown.

With five catches for 92 yards in the first half, Ross became the first wide receiver in Lafayette history to record two 1000 yard seasons.

Lehigh forced Lafayette to punt early in the second quarter and blocked it, starting its drive on the 10-yard line. The Mountain Hawks scored when quarterback Matt McHale found receiver Tyler Coyle in the end zone.

The Leopards responded immediately, however. A flea flicker pass from Reed to receiver Justin Adams moved Lafayette into the red zone and then Reed found Adams again for a four-yard touchdown.

The rivals traded punts from there but with just over a minute remaining in the first half, McHale found his favorite target Lee Kurfis ’14 in the end zone for a nine-yard touchdown pass.
