Dear Lafayette community,

It is now the end of a long semester. Amidst budget troubles and the pressure to put out high quality content weekly, I could not be more proud of the staff I had the pleasure of spending this past semester with. Two of our graduating seniors, Reine Pavlik ‘15 and Aaron Levenson ‘15, have not only been supportive and working constantly to improve the paper, but have made my past two years at The Lafayette memorable ones.

The paper now looks better, has engaging content and, on top of all this, was recently granted the full requested allocation for $19,400 by student government—with the stipulation that all of that money goes towards printing costs.

Now, we have a full business staff that is working successfully to increase our revenue. Because a free press’ dependence on student government remains an issue, we are constantly seeking to improve our financial situation.

This semester we continued our tradition of bringing the news to campus with brevity and integrity, bringing to light funding issues other clubs were having with student government, the college’s new application process for Greek organizations and sexual assault and rape on campus.

And we are not done. I am proud to announce that Drew Friedman ‘16 will be returning next year as managing editor, Caroline Nawrocki ‘18 as design director, Ian Morse ‘17 as news editor, Anastasia Gayol Cintron ‘17 and Jay Bickford ‘17 as arts editors, and Rachel Robertson ‘18 and Matt Barrett ‘17 as sports editors.
