Student Government gave committee updates and reviewed additional budgets during its March 13 meeting.
According to meeting minutes, President Alex Brown ‘26 successfully motioned to add committee reports to the meeting agenda. The communications committee published its first newsletter in February and is working on revamping the website. Academic Affairs is finalizing the textbook donation program and is working to make it more sustainable.
Parliamentarian Bryan Kibet ‘27 led the members in a discussion of Robert’s Rules of Order, a set of widely used standards for meeting procedure. A total of $975 was approved out of a requested $1,650, and $1,425 was approved out of a requested $3,625 for the Spring 2025 unanticipated budget.
After spring break, Student Government also reported on committee advancements and reviewed more budgets during its March 27 meeting.
The dining ad hoc committee reported successful feedback and announced a new mobile ordering system through the GrubHub app. Pard Dollars will be able to be used by any establishment that supports GrubHub.
The sustainability committee will be hosting a lemonade stand on April 18, and will help the operations of EarthFest on April 24.
Student Government again entered an executive session to review additional budgets. They approved $190 in additional funding for student organizations out of the $1,132 requested.
Communications Officer Ava Gallia ‘26 gave an attendance update for general body members. Vice President Sasha Carter ‘27 added that members should hold each other accountable within committees, and Brown reiterated that members should not miss committee meetings without letting people know.
Members then participated in a self-care activity in which they made a bracelet for another member to support mental health.
The Lafayette, until requesting the meeting minutes from the March 13 meeting, has not been sent the minutes of Student Government meetings during the Spring 2025 semester. It is stipulated in Student Government’s rules that the communications officer required to send minutes to campus news and media, along with other campus constituencies.
