A student was sexually assaulted in a campus dorm early Monday morning, according to a report filed by a third party with Public Safety. This is the second sexual assault reported this academic year.
The report, which was filed by an unidentified third party at 2:50 p.m. on April 13, stated a sexual assault occurred in Ramer Hall between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. that same day, according to the an email sent out by Public Safety. The victim filed a report later with Public Safety, said Hugh Harris, former director of Public Safety and a consultant who still works for the college.
“We know who the student is,” Harris said. “The student was identified.”
Harris said he could not comment on the physical description of the perpetrator or the relation of the third party to the victim, but the email stated that the victim informed the third party that the suspect was a student.
The first filed sexual assault was reported on October 6, allegedly occurring at an outdoor location on Lafayette’s campus. The student who reported the sexual assault decided not to pursue criminal charges after the report was filed, Director of Public Safety Robert Sabattis comfirmed, who was on leave until earlier this month, said.
