A female student reported being sexually assaulted early Sunday morning on Homecoming weekend, according to alerts sent out by Public Safety to student phones and emails.
Public Safety sent a text alert to the campus at 4:07 a.m. Sunday reporting the inciden. The report said that the assault happened at an outdoor location on campus, and that the suspect was a white male, about six feet tall and with blonde hair. Public Safety sent a follow-up email at 2:33 p.m. to campus mailboxes regarding the assault, adding to the subject line that the incident was a rape.
They sent an update to students at 11:46 a.m. Tuesday stating that the victim decided not to press charges.
“I was shocked and concerned when I was informed of this incident on Sunday,” President Alison Byerly wrote in an emailed statement. “I know that Public Safety moved quickly to increase patrols. The safety of the student community is always our highest priority.”
The Easton Police Department would not release any information regarding the incident, citing an ongoing investigation into the case.
