First founded in 2009 at Upper Bucks County, Pa., Owowcow Creamery has opened another location at the Simon Silk Mill, which gives Easton residents and Lafayette students a reason to rejoice.
“Easton is definitely a foodie community, I think we are in good company,” Shira Tizer Wade said, the General Manager of Owowcow.
Owowcow opened their Easton location this past August, and have since continued to focus on their unique crafting process and diversity of flavor.
“We make our ice cream completely from scratch and [locally] sourced,” Wade said. “We are Department of Agriculture certified to pasteurize our own base, which is super rare.”
In addition to giving their ice cream a more authentic flavor, this process grants the Owowcow team complete freedom to mix flavors as they like. They are limited only by which fruit is in season.
“Owowcow is virtually a recipe-free environment, compelling us to imagine new flavors daily,” according to their website.
Another benefit of the “recipe-free” environment is that Owowcow offers a large array of flavors, from rosewater cardamom to blueberry lemon. Many of these flavors are attributed to Amanda Cox, Owowcow’s executive chef, and Easton resident.
“We have an executive chef who is actually from Easton…she is so creative,” Wade said.
Some of Owowcow’s most popular flavors are seasonal. Right now, the fall flavors have been gaining traction.
“Now that we’re in the fall, I can’t stop eating the pumpkin and the apple [flavors],” said Wade.
With the upcoming holiday season, Owowcow has a lot that they are excited for. Thanksgiving will feature a pumpkin pie ice cream, and the December holidays will mark the arrival of candy-cane chip cookies and eggnog flavored ice cream.
Owowcow is also excited to connect more with Lafayette. Easton is the first college community that they have been in, and they are looking for ways to get students interested in their ice cream.
“This is our first location in a college town…We want to do a better job reaching out,” Wade said.
With this effort to connect more with the college community, Owowcow is offering a 10 percent student discount for students with their I.D. Owowcow is open Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m to 10 p.m.
