Women’s Soccer

Senior forward Alyssa Finelli capitalized on passes from senior Alex Reisinger and junior Allie Torru to score two goals as the Leopards blanked the Peacocks.
August 29 – Lafayette at North Florida
2-0-0 (0,0), W, 1-0
Senior forward Alyssa Finelli scored an unassisted goal in the 56th minute to solidify a victory for the Leopards. Sophomore Danielle Sedillo also earned a second straight shutout.
August 31 – Lafayette at Jacksonville
2-1-0 (0,0), L, 3-0
Despite six saves, Danielle Sedillo ‘17 allowed three goals in route to a blowout win for the Dolphins of Jacksonville.
Field Hockey
August 30 – Lafayette at No.13 Boston College
1-0 (0,0), W, 4-2
Sophomore Amanda Magadan scored two goals for the Leopards as they upset the #13 Eagles of Boston College. Senior Kelsey Mead also had a goal and assist.
August 31 – Lafayette at Quinnipiac
2-0 (0,0), W, 3-2 OT
Freshman Rosie Shanks of Scotland helped usher in this year’s new wave of international talent by netting two goals against Quinnipiac. Senior Brittany Blass scored the winning goal in the 81st minute.
Women’s Volleyball
Hofstra Invitational at Hempstead, NY
August 29 – Lafayette vs. Quinnipiac
0-1 (0,0), L, 3-2
Despite a valiant effort from the Leopards, they fell to the Bobcats in a five set thriller. Jet Manzi ‘17 led the way with ten kills.
August 29 – Lafayette vs. Hofstra
0-2 (0,0), L, 3-1
Jet Manzi ‘17 again let the way for the Leopards in both kills and digs with 11 and 16, while Tori Smith ‘18 led the way in assists with 21.
August 30 – Lafayette vs. St. Francis Brooklyn
1-2 (0,0), W, 3-1
The Leopards were able to pick up their first win of the season with the help of a double-double from Jet Manzi ‘17 with 11 kills and 14 digs.
August 30 – Lafayette vs. Santa Clara
1-3 (0,0), L, 3-0
Jet Manzi ‘17 was able to close out the Hofstra Invitational with ten digs and five kills.
Men’s Soccer
August 29 – Lafayette vs. St. Peters
W, 1-0
Senior Sandy Leavy was able to earn his first career shutout, saving four shots in his first start since 2012. The lone goal scored was by junior defender Eric West in the 59th minute. Assisting on the goal were seniors Tom McCutcheon and Alec Golini.
August 31 – Lafayette at Rutgers
L, 2-1
The lone goal scored by the Leopards was an own goal in the 72nd minute. A strong effort made by senior goalkeeper Sandy Leavy was not enough to stop Rutgers’ Jason Wright, who netted two goals.
Cross Country
August 30 – Monmouth XC Kick-Off in West Long Branch, NJ
Men: 2 out of 5,
Women: 3 out of 5
Junior Stephanie Benko took first place in the women’s division with a time of 14:48.7 at the team’s first meet of the season. Other notable finishes included junior Thomas Day in fourth and senior Andrew Warshaurer in eighth in the men’s division.
