In celebration of the spooky season, students may look forward to many frights happening all over the Lehigh Valley. Starting with our very own city at the bottom of the hill, Easton will be hosting its 11th annual Haunted Tour on Friday, October 24 and 25. Commencing at Center Square, guided groups will lead visitors down the city’s dark side of ghost stories and murders, including acted out scenes of the sinister tales. So if you dare, come down the hill to Center Square at 8 p.m. on either or both nights. On the weekend of October 25 and November 1, students are also invited to take a stroll through Haunted Hugh Moore Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a little fright in the woods. Included will be a nighttime canal boat ride as well as a lantern-lit ghost walk. For those 21 and older, Drinky’s will be hosting its Freakshow and costume competition on the night of October 31 where guests can win up to $500 and along with other prizes.
For those of us a little less brave, however, Easton will hosts its annual Phillipsburg-Easton Halloween Parade on October 26 starting at 3 p.m.. There will also be trick-or-treating on October 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for those who just want candy out of the holiday.
A little deeper into the Valley, the City of Bethlehem will also hold its Halloween parade on October 26 at 2 p.m. For the experienced Halloweeners, the city will be offering several festivities celebrating the year’s scariest time. One of the city’s favorites, the Hunt for Ghost Tour is held every Saturday until November 8 at 7:30 p.m.. To attend this ghastly event, bring your flashlight and follow a paranormal investigator about the gloomy streets of Bethlehem for urban legends as well as eerie truths awakening at nightfall. The city will also attempt to spook its visitors with the Death and Dying tour of Bethlehem’s oldest cemetery held Tuesdays and Sundays at 4 p.m. and at 5:30 p.m. Have a terrifyingly good time walking through the scary side of history in the resting place of the ones no longer living. Lastly, Bethlehem will host its season’s scary finale on October 31 with the Halloween Haunt which will begin at 9:30 p.m. and end at 1 a.m. in Hotel Bethlehem.
Even farther off, Allentown proves to be no less scary this Halloween season. Its famed amusement park, Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom, has already begun its fright feast early in the month in which, as the sun goes down, fog falls over the park and visitors become victims to the spooks and creeps roaming in the dark. For those wishing for a good scream this Halloween, feed your fears with mazes, haunted houses, and carnivals, as well as other thrilling rides and attractions.
So whether you wish to trot through cemeteries and parks at night, hunt for haunts at creepy hotels, or if you simply prefer something a little less orange and black, perhaps something sweet and sugary, this Halloween season has it all in store, just for you.
