Cadence Excels in Final Concert of the Semester
Lafayette’s all-female a cappella group, Cadence, had their final performance of the semester Monday in Farinon Atrium in front of a packed house.
All dressed in holiday apparel, Cadence started off with a performance of “Carol of the Bells,” a classic song for the Holiday season.
Miranda Andretti, ’16, said that this was her favorite part.
“I love ‘Carol of the Bells,’ and how they mixed their name into it and made it their own,” she said. “It was a creative introduction.”
Cadence then sang three more songs, including an artistic take on Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.” Their arrangement was a departure from the original track, but quite a few audience members joined in and sang along.
The school’s all-male a capella group, the Chorduroys, then took center stage, sweaters shining bright. The group performed a duo of songs, one of them being a rendition of Straight No Chaser’s “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” which is a mash-up of several other holiday songs.
After the Chorduroys finished, Cadence took the stage again for three more songs. They closed with the intersecting harmonies of “Winter Song,” originally played by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson. After, Cadence left the stage, accompanied by applause.
