Lafayette Activities Forum’s Casino Night brought the glitz and glamor of Atlantic City right to the Marlo Room, letting students play free rounds of poker, blackjack, slots and other games.
“This is one of our bigger events,” said Rachel Tielking ‘27, a member of the Lafayette Activities Forum. “I wouldn’t say that it’s going to be as big as something like Fall Fest or Spring Fest, but sort of similar size to bingo night that we had previously this semester.”
Lafayette Activities Forum has held the event for the past three years. This year, however, saw an uptick in quality.
“Last year was fun, I think, but there was some issues with it,” said Drew Angelone ‘27, who attended last year’s Casino Night as well. “I was on the fence about coming this year. I had some friends convince me, and this improved a lot.”
“I’m blown away,” Angelone continued. “And with the professional dealers and the tables and stuff, I’m so glad I came.”
Students went all out for the event, even showing up in suits.
“At the poker table, if my opponents see me exude a lot of wealth here, then I might have a better chance at convincing them to fold when I have junk cards,” Noam Raich ‘28 said. “But either way, it sort of adds to the ambiance. I can feel like I’m gambling real money here.”
“This is just one of these kinds of events where it’s just really fun to go all out and just really enjoy the experience,” Tielking said.
Win or lose, many students ended up having a good time.
“Honestly, I’m quite a gambler myself, so it’ll be fun regardless,” Raich joked.
