“The fight for a more just and compassionate world doesn’t end with one outcome. The work continues.” (We the Urban)
Many of us awoke to a disappointing and frightening election result. There are not enough words to encompass the vast array of emotions many are feeling right now. Our hearts ache for not just ourselves but people across our country – women, children, people of color, immigrants, members of the LGBTQ+ community and countless others.
Millions of people chose to vote for a President with an egregious history of hatred. However, millions of people also voted against his radically dangerous policies. All of the work leading up to this election is not worth nothing. Our power lies in community engagement and compassion for each other. Today will be hard, as will tomorrow, but we must continue our fight for the future.
Lafayette for Reproductive Autonomy, Justice, and Empowerment, or LRAJE, pledges to support Lafayette College in every way possible. We will continue to provide emergency contraception and other vital reproductive and sexual products. LRAJE is a safe space for anyone who is afraid or unsure of their future. We cannot promise to fix everything, but we promise to never stop fighting for reproductive justice. It is more important than ever before to build community networks.
Remember to lean on each other and give yourself grace. The world needs you for the fight ahead. We must push forward with resiliency and hope in the face of uncertainty.
This is still our country. Don’t forget that.
Please reach out to LRAJE (@lraje_laf) or President Rebekah Lazar ([email protected]) with anything you might need now or in the future ahead.
