Aug. 17 vs. Villanova

For the first time in Lafayette women’s soccer history, the Leopards defeated Villanova in a low-scoring endeavor. Sophomore forward Krista Kissell scored the only goal in the game as sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Pohl earned the shutout, tallying five saves.
Aug. 19 vs. Delaware State
W, 5-1
Senior Alex Stanford earned a hat trick, solidifying her case for Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week. Kissell scored her second goal in as many games and defenseman Caitlin Balmer got on the board with her first. Pohl notched seven more saves, allowing only one goal in the win.
Aug. 26 vs. St. Peter’s
W, 3-0
Pohl earned her second shutout in three games with four saves. Junior midfielder Mason Worthington scored a goal and Stanford netted another pair for her fifth goal in two games.

Aug. 24 vs. St. Francis Brooklyn
L, 1-0
Freshman goalkeeper Alex Sutton made a good first impression, saving three shots, but allowed the only goal of the game in a close loss for the Leopards.
Aug. 28 @ Monmouth
W, 1-0
Junior midfielder Chris Gomez scored the game winner in a minute-55 penalty kick, while Sutton earned his first shutout win of his Lafayette soccer career.
Women’s volleyball (0-2) (0-0)
Aug. 26 vs. Duquesne
L, 3-0
Freshman Grace Tulevech tallied 14 kills, but the Leopards dropped their season debut in straight sets. Junior Katrina Ruggiero and freshman Kelly Austin added seven kills apiece.
Aug. 27 vs. St. Peters
L, 3-1
After scoring just eight points in the first set, the Leopards bounced back to win the next. They couldn’t continue the comeback, dropping the last two to drop to 0-2 on the season. Freshman Leanna Deegan, Ruggiero, and Austin each reached double-digit kills in the loss.

Aug. 24 vs. Fairfield
L, 3-1
Junior Caroline Turnbull opened the scoring 19 minutes into the game, giving the Leopards an early lead. Junior goalie Sarah Park saved seven shots in the game, but Fairfield netted three to hand Lafayette the season opener loss.
