Student Government’s most recent meeting consisted of a presentation from Dean of Students Walter Snipes on changes to the code of conduct and the introduction of a new representative.
The meeting, which was originally slated to be held in person, was held on Zoom due to a rise in illness on campus. Student Government did not publicly announce the change in location and a link to the meeting was not made publicly available.
In his presentation, Snipes spoke on ongoing changes to the college’s code of conduct. At the beginning of the academic year, the college introduced a non-punitive alternative for resolving conduct violations and announced a plan to eliminate behavioral conduct fines.
Snipes said the college is still pursuing the expansion of restorative practices in the code of conduct, describing the practices as a way to “move forward to continue to build communities.” He said the new policies will be implemented in phases and that the college is consulting with legal counsel to update the language on its website.
The meeting then moved to the open floor, where the members welcomed Prem Kumar ’26, the final representative needed to complete Student Government’s roster. Several members unmuted to cheer for Kumar.
The meeting concluded in under 20 minutes.
