Get ready to “Eat, Drink & Stink!” this weekend at the annual Easton Garlic festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The Lehigh Valley’s stinkiest culinary event includes a variety of garlic-dish cooking demonstrations, friendly cooking competitions, tasting events, and various beer and wine tastings.
Every October, Easton celebrates the odorous vegetable by creating variety of garlicky dishes for the festival goers to enjoy.
The festival includes a “Mystery Basket Competition,” where Easton chefs create dishes from locally grown ingredients picked by Easton Farmers Market shoppers. Executive Chef Rick Heinricks of Spinnerston Hotel returns to defend his title as the winner from last year.
Other popular Contests include the First Responders cook-off, where the best cooks of the Easton Police Department, Fire Department and Sheriffs Department will compete to win a $100 donation for the charity of their choice; and the Mayor cook-off between Mayor Sal Panto of Easton and Mayor Harry Wyant of Phillipsburg.
The 2015 Easton Garlic Festival introduced “Little Stinkers Row,” a kids section featuring pony rides, cross fit fun and fitness, cupcake walk, fashion show and culinary kids cooking contest.
The Easton’s School of Rock kids will be performing songs from their Summer 2015 seasonal shows for the stinkers to enjoy. Earl The Accordionist, Mike Roi and James Supra Blues Band are among other live music and performances.
There will also be four beer-tasting sessions spread across the two-day event along with various fun activities for festival goers to enjoy.
