Each week Lafayette Style columnist, Aleni MacKarey ‘16 peruses the campus to find Leopards rocking unique and individual trends! Today’s installment features two students on their first day of classes. Here’s how they chose to step into the fall semester!

The Lafayette: What is your class year? What is your (intended) major?

Meryl: I am a freshman and I’m double majoring in Biology and Theater.

L: Where is your look from?

M: Shirt is J. Crew, skirt H&M, shoes are American Eagle, backpack is Vera Bradley

L: What does your look say about your outlook for this new semester?

M: With this outfit, I hoped to show that I was excited about the new start that this semester brings.

L: Who is a fashion icon of yours?

M: I am obsessed with Blair Waldorf’s style on Gossip Girl.

L: What impression were you hoping to make with this first day of school look?

M: I chose this outfit because it clearly showed who I was and my sense of style. I wanted to start off the year by showing people what I like and who I am.

James: Class of 2016, intending on a Gov/Law and Philosophy double major

L: Where is your look from?

J: Shirt from H&M and pants Banana Republic.

L: What does your look say about your outlook for this new semester?

J: Pants symbolize a firm grip on reality while the shirt is a bit of a curveball so take that as you will.

L: Who is a fashion icon of yours? (celebrity, relative, cartoon character)

J: 50 cent.

L: What impression were you hoping to make with this first day of school look?

J: I was going for the cartoon sailor look.
