After being postponed last semester, PardGlow is back.

The event will be Friday, September 12, a night of loud music and fluorescent lights on March Field starting at 10 p.m. and lasting until 1 a.m.

The idea of PardGlow originated from the “Life in Color” concert – previously known as “Dayglow” – which began as a large paint party on a college campus in Florida. After increasing in popularity and momentum, Dayglow traveled to Ultra Music Festival as well as the Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, Pa. in 2011, where it was met with such high demand that the concert was moved to Lehigh University’s Rauch Fieldhouse.

Following the paint party at Lehigh, six guests were arrested for intoxication and disorderly conduct while 35 attendees were sent to local hospitals with cases of dehydration as well as drug and alcohol poisoning. Due to the occurrence at Lehigh, the concert was re-branded as “Life in Color.” Sebastian Solano, the organizer of the event, asserted that the new title “really captured our vibrant spirit and was less ambiguous at the end of the day.”

The paint that will be blasted at the audience during PardGlow is very difficult to wash out therefore attendees should wear clothing they are not worried about ruining. A white t-shirt, shorts, and an old pair of shoes are not the typical going out go-tos, but you won’t regret this outfit decision for PardGlow. White clothing does show the glow in the dark color better, so you may want to split a pack of Hanes white undershirts with friends and wear some old gym shorts.

While selfies and gramming are tempting, we suggest keeping valuables in a Ziploc bag away from the tarnishing paint. You may even want to keep a small towel in the bag to wipe your shoes from paint before you step back in your dorm for the night, as you will more than likely be waiting for the showers in your residence hall. Just as important, make sure to keep a disposable bag in your dorm room that you can immediately dump your painted clothes when finished with the event.
